Pay Per Click Advertising: How to Design a Good PPC Advert Part II

We now come to the display URL, which is the URL that is shown under the advert. This need not be the URL that is linked to the title, and that sends the visitor to the page you want them to land on. It must, however, be related. You cannot have the linked URL and display URL being to different websites. The display URL will generally be your home page, but you are best advised to register a domain name that relates to your product, such as losefatfast.com. The best domains will be taken, of course, so register a meaningless domain name, such as prt.com, and display the URL LoseWeightFast.prt.com. This works well and can significantly increase your click through rate (CTR).

Now that your advert has been designed, make a change. Thats right! Make a change to the title just one word, such as Lose Fat Quick or Lose Fat Now in place of Lose Fat Fast. Then run both on Google. Google allows that and will run first one then the other, and will then tend to show the more popular ad the most often. After a week or so, discard the poorer performing, make another change, and run the two again.

Over time you will steadily improve your CTR from the best advert, progressively making changes to the title and the other two lines, until you have the highest possible CTR you ad can achieve. This type of ad testing is critical to doing well with PPC advertising, and many fail because they fail to test. Any successful advertiser will tell that one of the secret of their success is testing the wording of adverts on a regular basis. You could even try testing the display URL.

That is how to design a good advert using pay per click advertising. A good PPC advert is normally attained after long periods of testing, based on an initial well thought out title and descriptions. Test it to death, and then start all over again.
